STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE
Program with emphasis STEM
POWERSAINS runs various programs. They include
1. CAMPS based on STEM themes
2. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE program with emphasis on STEM
3. STEM XPLORER, hands-on workshops based on specific topics for teachers and students
4. STEM CARNIVAL, STEM fair with interactive stations and exhibits for exploration and demos
5. TEAM BUILDING, unique STEM-based theme team-building for corporations
1. CAMPS
Camps are a good way to enjoy STEM activities with others. Camps usually lasts from 2 days to a week. Apart from STEM skills, participants will learn teamwork, leadership, organizational and communication skills. During COVID, some camps were run online but there is nothing like working on activities or projects with others. Below are our current suite of camps and more will be coming with time.

- Amazing Life on Earth
In addition to the talks above, a range of science projects, demos and short activities are prepared to make it a memorable 3 days
The Invisible Force
Though invisible, the principles of magnetism can be found every-where in our everyday life. There will be a magnet in most of our modern-day conveniences. With-out magnets, there will not be the modern civilization we know of today.
This camp explores the behavior and properties of magnets and how magnetism and electricity are related to each other

2.INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE
In this program, overseas students stay from between one to two weeks where they do a STEM course of a particular topic at the same time they are exposed to the local culture and environment through various excursions during the course of their stay. We look forward to work with students from more countries.
Young STEM & A Entrepreneurship
This is a program designed in collaboration with our Thai partner Brain Adventure and run in partnership with the University of Wollongong, Malaysia. Students undergo about 30 hours of instruction in Digital Electronics and Microcontrollers and go for various excursions and outing to sample the sights and life in Penang. They do both a culture as well as a technical project.

3. STEM XPLORER
The XPLORER program comprises hands-on workshops in specific STEM topics for BOTH students and teachers. The workshops come with proprietary work-books which guides the students through the activities and experiments. They participants get to see scientific phenomena occur before their eyes and get to see technology at work through the various projects and activities in the workshops. The workshop has a clear advantage over the usual classroom instruction due to its hands-on component which students usually lack the opportunity to do so in a normal classroom. We will continue to build on the repertoire of workshops to enhance the teaching and learning of science making the subject matter interesting and engaging. If you have ideas or specific topics you like us to develop, do let us know.
DIGITAL ELECTRONICS
This workshop introduces the Digital Electronics concepts and highly hands-on. Students will learn how to use a multimeter to do electrical measurements and learn how to use basic electronic components, sensors and also IC (integrated circuits) chip in an electronic circuits. In addition, an introduction to logic gates and their applications will be given
This workshop is suitable for ages 12 to 18 or anyone interested to know the basics of Digital Electronics
MICROCONTROLLER BASICS
This workshop explores the workings of microcontrollers using the Arduino platform. Students will be exposed to the functions of a microcontroller and how to program one. They will also be able to build circuits around a microcontroller. At the end of the workshop, students will have obtain sufficient skills to start them off on an innovative path using microcontroller.
This workshop is suitable for ages 12 to 18 or anyone interested to know the basics of Microcontrollers.
MAGNETS & MAGNETISM
Magnets are behind the scenes wonder that we take for granted but our modern civilization will not be possible without the understanding of magnetism. In this workshop, students will learn about the behavior of magnets and how the magnetism phenomena in different context. They will also learn about the Earth as a giant magnet also how to get electricity from magnets.
There workshop has a Junior ( 7 to 12 years) and and Senior version ( 12 to 18 years)
ELECTRICITY & MAGNETISM
We take our electricity for granted and many do not know that magnetism and electricity are different sides of the same coin. In this workshop, students will explore the phenomena of magnetism and learn about electricity and the functioning of basic electrical components and also how electricity and magnetism are related.
There workshop is suitable for ages 12 and above.
AMAZING BLOOD
In this workshop, the children will be taken through what is the function of blood and the different blood groups. They will also get to see the red blood cells (RBC) under a microscope and they will make RBC models with the different antigens on the surface. Additionally, they will also learn about the functioning of the heart and how does heart attack and stroke happen
There workshop is suitable for ages 7 to 12 but grown-ups attending with children mentioned they also find it interesting.

4. STEM CARNIVAL
The STEM CARNIVAL allows participants to carry out activities at different stations that cover specific STEM topics. The stations combine elements of learning and entertainment to show that STEM is fun and interesting. A worksheet is usually provided for the participants to work through as they interact with the stations. Apart from student groups, the CARNIVAL is excellent for company family days, birthdays and outings. This program can be customized to suit the needs of the occasion.
We have developed a suit of about 2 dozen activities that can be used for a STEM Carnival. Each station comprises 1 activity which can be facilitated or otherwise. Participants will be grouped to a certain number of participants per group and each group is allocated a certain time per station – typically 20 mins to half hour. We also provide a gamified format for the Carnival where each group or individual will accumulate points at each station.

5. TEAM-BUILDING
This is a unique STEM theme building program for corporations or any groups. The program is designed to foster aspects in a team like effective communication, good leadership, strategy, adaptability, problem solving, resilience, collaboration, trust and continuous improvement. In the process also learn somethings about STEM in an experiential way. This is HRDF claimable program.
